The new dvd of our commemoration concert ‘Saluting the Brave’ has been launched by the WW1 Commemoration Committee. They are trying to raise funds for the statue that was erected in Mountmellick to commemorate those who lost their lives and so they would be delighted of anyone wishing to get a copy.
It is a great gift idea – with history and entertainment rolled into one. Those interested in purchasing a copy can do so by contacting Ger Lynch or copies are available in Mountmellick stores, O Gormans, Horans, MDA and many more.
For our part well we are delighted to be spreading the word of our new show and to be commemorating the unsung heroes in a unique fashion. Thanks for your kind response to the show and to the clip we have uploaded here on the site and on our facebook page – please visit it us and join us on your facebook band page for further updates.
I will performing in Laois and in Mayo over the Christmas season and I look forward to meeting some of you along the way 😉
Finally I am getting the time to write to you all again. It has been a hectic few months with a lot of exciting projects ahead in the pipeline. We recently had the fantastic opportunity to open the WW1 commemoration events in Mountmellick Arts centre with a show that I produced called ‘Saluting the Brave’.
The show, commemorating the unsung heroes of WW1, takes the form of music, song, drama and dance – and shows the power of the propaganda at the time, the naivety of these young men of sixteen and seventeen years of age searching for adventure and hoping to earn a living, the sadness of those they left behind and a misguided journey that ended in the horror of the trenches.
I enjoyed, not only researching and scripting the show, but also learning the songs and music from the time, songs such as the well known numbers of Gallipoli, Keep the Home Fires Burning, Willie McBride and many more … and the fantastic musicians that I am fortunate to work with in my band helped to glue it all together. I wish to thank all those involved with all aspects of the performance, from my band-mates Eamonn, Robert and James to the actors, dancers, and stage crew, and those who manned the lighting and sound, and to the Mountmellick WW1 Committee for their hard work in organising the ten days of commemoration and for asking us to open the events. I would also like to thank Mary Kavanagh of the Leinster Express and Claire O Brien and Will Faulkner of Radio 3 for promoting the events. And last but not least, a big thank you to the fantastic audience who came on the night and were both attentive, participative, and for the standing novation at the end – it makes all the hard work, early mornings, and very late nights worth while. Without you, the audience, we cannot continue on this musical journey so thanks for the support, phone calls and emails we have received since the event. They have been particularly touching.
We look forward to some recorded footage coming soon and to the future events.

I hope you are enjoying the sunny weather. Thanks for the all the emails, and facebook messages I have received in the past few months. I have been very busy singing away at different events around the country and have enjoyed gigs in Laois, Kildare, Tipperary & a few visits to the West – to the lovely County Mayo. Currently working towards an Irish music concert event with the band in the Concert Hall Mountmellick on Friday, August 22nd – so please save the date and keep eyes and ears open for further details to come here.
We have been busy in studio working on some new recordings. We have some snippets up on the band page and would be delighted if you popped over for a listen to our new material. It would also be great to hear your feedback and get your comments so feel free to post a comment here and/or to email us.
I would like to thank jobo web design for all the work on this newly revamped website.
